Johannesburg - North Rand police are investigating a case in which a man was killed and his girlfriend critically wounded at a dumpsite in Elgin road in Norkem near Kempton Park on Tuesday.
Superintendent Eugene Opperman said Floos de Klerk, his partner, Annemarie Mare, and their six-year-old daughter Kayla, had stopped to offload rubbish at the site at about 14:15.
They were approached by two armed robbers who demanded the keys to their bakkie. They fired shots, killing De Klerk instantly.
Mare was wounded and later taken to a local hospital for treatment. She was reported to be in a critical condition.
The robbers fled in the couple's bakkie.
Kayla escaped unscathed. She is being looked after by relatives.
