Parys - A Pretoria female skydiver is in a stable condition in an Alberton hospital after a freak accident on Saturday at the Dome Festival in Parys.
The woman, who asked not to be named, crashed into a car parked on the grounds of Parys High School after presumably descending too fast after she jumped.
Henk Havenga, festival organiser, says it's a miracle that she wasn't killed.
"That Uno was standing exactly on the right spot. It broke her fall."
Havenga, who saw the accident happen, says Jacques Botes and Henk Prinsloo, who both have paramedic training, were at her side within seconds and started stabilising her.
"It was a freak accident. As far as I'm concerned, the car saved her life."
Derrick Banks, ER24 spokesperson, says she was in a serious condition when paramedics reached her. She sustained multiple fractures, as well as possible neck and back injuries.
"She was in severe pain and was taken to the Union Hospital in Alberton with the ER24-Discovery Medicopter."
Havenga says the latest information they had on Sunday was that she's doing well under the circumstances.
