Johannesburg - A 22-year-old man was arrested in Soweto for attempted murder, police said on Wednesday.

He was arrested in the eMndeni section on Tuesday evening.

"It's alleged the suspect and two others shot a man on the 15 July in Zola. They have all been on the run since then. We are still searching for the other two," said Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela.

The reasons behind the attack were still unclear.

Makhubela said the victim was shot six times. He was still in hospital.

The man in custody will face charges of attempted murder in the Protea Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
