2012-08-06 15:49

Johannesburg - A Soweto woman has been arrested for child neglect after leaving her 4-month-old baby alone at home while she went out drinking, Gauteng police said on Monday.

Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela said the 28-year-old woman was arrested on Sunday.

"The father of the 4-month-old baby girl went to the woman's house in Zola yesterday [Sunday] and saw that she had left the child alone," he said.

"He then looked for the woman and found her drunk in a shebeen. He called the police and they arrested the woman."

Makhubela said the baby was now in her father's care.

I dnt know what to say...the father should take custody of this child. As for the mom, sterilize her. I'm not gonna say Jail her because it won't happen.

I know for a fact that this happens regularly. My tea lady at work locked her grown up daughter in the house the other day so that she would be home to look after her own children and not go out drinking!

People like this should not be allowed to have children. take the child away from her and have her tubes cut.

The government just boosts alcohol sales with the child grant! This is why so many young girls dont mind falling pregnant. I hope they make an example of her-she must be sterilised and if on a grant it must be immediately removed!!!
