Speedster has no luck with plane excuse

Johannesburg - A man was arrested for driving 204km/h on the N12 westbound between the R59 and Comaro turnoffs on Sunday, Ekurhuleni metro police said.

The 27-year-old man was arrested around 06:30, said Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago.

"The speedster was charged at Alberton police station with reckless and negligent driving. He claimed that he was dashing home to pick up his family who were late to catch a plane at OR Tambo International Airport."

The man was later released on R1 500 bail.

"He is expected to appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate's Court soon," he said.
