Students to march against Jub Jub

Johannesburg – The Congress of SA Students intends to march to the South Gauteng High Court on Wednesday to oppose bail being granted to two drag racers who allegedly killed four pupils in Soweto.

"Tomorrow students from across the golden province will gather at the Johannesburg High Court to oppose the bail application for these two murderers," Cosas provincial secretary Oagilwe Louw told a press briefing in Johannesburg on Tuesday.

The students did not seem to be aware that the case was in fact scheduled to be heard in the Protea Magistrate's Court in Soweto.

The students would also call for the SABC to stop broadcasting hip-hop artist Molemo Maarohanye, aka Jub Jub's, songs. He is one of the accused.

"We call on the public broadcaster to immediately stop playing songs of Jub Jub as it is clear that they are giving him a heroic treatment."

The students further voiced their support for ANC Youth League president Julius Malema for singing a song that calls for the shooting of boers.

"We cannot be told which songs to sing and we shall continue to sing our revolutionary songs without fear of any white racist."

Louw further claimed students would be "mobilised" to disrupt the 2010 World Cup if they didn't get free education.
