Johannesburg - A fire broke out at a supermarket in Mahikeng in the North West, SABC news reported on Sunday.

Fire and emergency personnel were still battling to put out the blaze at the Tag Cash and Carry wholesaler in the morning. The owner suspected arson, the broadcaster reported. A case of arson was opened.

It was the second fire in Mahikeng within a week.

Police spokesperson Karen Treboux could not immediately comment.

This is the 3rd attack on businesses owned by people from Indian heritage in Mahikeng in a couple of days. Where is the research and the footwork, News24? Is this possibly a flare-up of xenophobia against the Indian-South African community in Mahikeng?
