Cape Town - One of the men accused of the rape and murder of teenager Anene Booysen was on Wednesday denied bail in the Bredasdorp Magistrate's Court.

The court denied bail to Jonathan Davids, who Booysen had identified as one of her attackers before succumbing to her horrific injuries, Eye Witness News (EWN) reported.

Davids's co-accused Johannes Kana had not applied for bail.

Both men had been arrested in connection with the attack earlier in February after the 17-year-old Booysen had been raped, mutilated, and left for dead at a construction site.

Davids denied any involvement in the attack, despite scratch marks found on his body after his arrest.

His lawyer Pieter du Toit said, "We're obviously disappointed but I listened to the judgment and I can't find any fault with it.

"I've spoken to the family and they suggested we wait for the forensic analysis," EWN reported.
