Suspect sought for 3-year-old crime

Johannesburg - KwaZulu-Natal police were still searching for a man accused of stabbing a woman to death in Pietermaritzburg nearly three years ago.

Noncebo Mvelase, 29, was killed in October 2010 when a man attacked her in Cathedral Lane, police spokesperson Jay Naicker on Monday.

Mvelase was walking with her 6-year-old son when they were attacked.

"It is believed that the man repeatedly stabbed Mvelase in her face and chest, seriously wounding her," Naicker said.

The son ran to a nearby church for help.

Mvelase still had her phone, gold chain, and a handbag containing R2 000.
