Mbombela - Two men, accused of raping and robbing four women on farms around Mpumalanga, are expected to appear in the Nelspruit Regional Court on Tuesday.

Solomon Abraham Nkosi, 24, from Ermelo Trust outside White River and Jimmy Mkhabela, 25, from Phola Trust outside Hazyview, previously pleaded not guilty to nine charges, a Sapa correspondent reported.

Nkosi and Mkhabela were arrested in 2011 following farm attacks that took place around White River the same year.

They both face five charges of rape, one of compelling another person to witness a rape and three charges of armed robbery.

The court heard that two men matching the description of Nkosi and Mkhabela entered three different houses between February and June 2011, where they held up the occupants using a knife and a firearm.

On 3 February 2011, in Spioenkop outside White River, two women, aged 25 and 47, were held captive, raped and were robbed of R3 000, five cellphones, two iPads and a Hyundai vehicle.

On 7 February 2011, at another farmhouse in White River, a 33-year-old woman was raped while an elderly woman was compelled to witness the incident.

The women were robbed of one engagement ring, two silver rings, three cellphones and a bicycle.

On 9 June 2011, where a 30-year-old woman was robbed of her cellphone and cash, before being raped.

Two police officers had testified that Nkosi voluntarily pointed out the crime scenes after his arrest and that two witnesses pointed out Mkhabela during an identity parade.
