Suspected killer dad appears in court
Johannesburg - A man accused of killing his 3-year-old son appeared in the Koster Magistrate's Court on Monday, North West police said.
Michael Letebele was also accused of stabbing and wounding his 5-year-old son, Warrant Officer Sam Tselanyane said.
The case was postponed to March 1 for further investigation. Tselanyane said the father had made a confession to police, claiming he was drunk and had blacked out during the crime.
Letebele was meant to look after his two children on February 18 while his wife was in hospital with their ill 2-month-old baby.
"He allegedly grabbed the younger son by his legs and hit him against a concrete wall, and assaulted the 5-year-old with a beer bottle.
"He said he was drunk and had a blackout and couldn't remember this."
He faces charges of murder and attempted murder.
The 5-year-old was being kept in a place of safety.
