Johannesburg - The trial of seven policemen charged with the murder of protester Andries Tatane is expected to resume in the Ficksburg Regional Court on Friday.

On Tuesday, the State had finished presenting its evidence, and the defence asked for a postponement as it was not yet ready.

Tatane was beaten and shot dead, allegedly by seven police officers, during a service delivery protest in Ficksburg in April 2011.

A post mortem report handed over in court on Monday revealed Tatane died from a gunshot wound to the chest.
