Taxi accident victim McCusker marries

Johannesburg - The advocate who was badly injured last year when she was dragged hundreds of meters by a taxi in Johannesburg, got married on Saturday, Beeld reported.

Advocate Kim McCusker was travelling with her fiance, Lourens Grobler, in his bakkie when they were involved in an altercation with taxi driver Matome Thamage in Lonehill on September 13 2011.

Thamage alleges Grobler tried to assault him as he sat in his minibus. McCusker, who was standing in front of the taxi, was hit and dragged for several hundred metres when Thamage tried to race away from the scene.

McCusker spent nearly three months in hospital, followed by intensive rehabilitation and therapy.

The couple would have married in February, but postponed the wedding for the sake of her recovery.

In February, McCusker mentioned on the Facebook supporters group, created for her by her sister Julia, that she was still battling to walk normally.

When she married Grobler on Saturday, at the Velmore Hotel in Erasmia, Centurion, she was able to walk down the aisle.
