Taxi dragging case on hold till February

2011-12-06 16:24

Johannesburg - The case against a minibus taxi driver accused of knocking over and dragging a Johannesburg advocate under his minibus was postponed in the Randburg Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

Matome Thamage's lawyer Oliver Moeti said the matter was postponed to February 28 next year, to allow for further investigation.

The 30-year-old stands accused of the attempted murder of Kim McCusker and of reckless or negligent driving.

He allegedly knocked down and dragged McCusker under his minbus taxi for several hundred metres on September 12.

This followed an alleged altercation between her fiancé Lourens Grobler and Thamage following an accident between their cars at an intersection in Lonehill.

This i'm sure is just another case of 'he said she said' but the taxi driver was definitely in the wrong by driving into the woman and dragging her. If he felt that his life is in danger and tried to get away because of it then we as drivers who have a valid legally obtained license should chase down every taxi that crosses us and @*$§ them up.
