Taxi row claims two

Durban - A Durban taxi driver and one of his passengers killed each other on Saturday night when a row over a fare turned into a gunfight, police said on Sunday.
Masiza Khuzwayo's taxi was full of passengers when he and the unidentified passenger began arguing. The passenger drew his firearm and shot at Khuzwayo who took out his own gun and returned fire, Inspector Thembeka Luthuli said.
Khuzwayo died on the scene near the intersection of Inanda and North Coast roads in Greenwood Park. The passenger died some 150m away.
Police were investigating the incident, Luthuli said.
In another incident in Victor Lane in Durban on Saturday night, one man stabbed another to death when the pair argued a bag of mielies. The attacker fled.
A mob beat a 30-year-old man to death and threw his body over a cliff in Amaoti north of the city in the early hours of Saturday. The motive for the attack was not known.
The body a woman, Ntombifuthi Mthimkhulu, was found at a men's hostel in Jabula Road, KwaMashu, shortly after midnight on Saturday. Mthimkhulu, 27, had been shot several times in the stomach.
The motive for her murder was also not known but the police were investigating, Luthuli said.
