Johannesburg - An Azara High School teacher was held at gunpoint and robbed of his belongings in Lenasia, southern Johannesburg on Friday, said Soweto police.
Sergeant Richard Munyai said the 28-year-old teacher was opening a classroom when three men approached him about 07:50.
One of them produced a gun and pointed it at the teacher before firing a shot in the air.
The teacher had been carrying a bag containing books and belongings.
The other two robbers searched his pockets, but could not find anything.
They then took the bag and fled through a hole in the fence.
The teacher escaped unscathed and classes were suspended for the day. No arrests have been made.
Parents and staff are said to be concerned about the security situation at the school as another teacher was robbed at gunpoint inside the grounds only last week.
