Teen appears for gran's murder

Johannesburg - A 14-year-old boy accused of murdering his grandmother remained in protective custody after appearing in the Mankweng Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, Limpopo police said.

The case was postponed to February 17 for further investigation, said Constable Moses Molepo.

The boy's bail application would be heard at the next court date.

The teenager allegedly used an electrical cord to strangle his 68-year-old grandmother during an argument.

She had apparently told him to switch off the television and do household chores.

The youth was arrested early on Saturday morning at Thune section, near the Woodbush Forest Reserve, said Molepo.
