Teen 'hanging out' with rapists

2010-10-10 14:46

Johannesburg - A 14-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped on Saturday night in Mthatha, Eastern Cape police said on Sunday.

Police had arrested two men, aged 18 and 22, and two minors, aged 14 and 15, in connection with the crime, Lieutenant Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela said.

"The girl was hanging out with the boys in a house, maybe they were drinking, we don't know," he said.

"She says the boys drugged her because she doesn't know what happened but she knows that she was raped."

The girl told her parents about the incident and they informed the police, Fatyela said.

The minors were released into their parents custody and were expected to appear in the Mthatha Magistrate's Court with the other two accused on Monday.
