Teen kidnapped, raped by father

2011-10-13 11:06

Grahamstown - A 16-year-old girl who was kidnapped and raped, allegedly by her father, has been found on a farm outside Grahamstown, Eastern Cape police said on Thursday.

"She is severely traumatised," Captain Mali Govender said.

"Police received a report of a missing girl on Sunday and it was later discovered that she was kidnapped by her biological father."

She had reported a case of rape and assault against her father before the incident, Govender said.

The teenager was found around noon on Tuesday at a farm where she was being held hostage. By the time the police arrived, her father had left.

      daaivark - 2011-10-13 11:29

South Africans are the problem with our once beautiful country.

      daaivark - 2011-10-13 11:35

IC1: "inbread"??? Would that be with or without the crust? I think you should be a bit more careful about slamming people for being ignorant.

      Made_In_SA - 2011-10-13 11:37

We have too many "sanctimonious" bleeding hearts that love the whole concept of matter the damage the person (criminal) caused they will try help him see the light and error or his ways? Screw that, at 14 you become criminally accountable for your actions according to SA law, at this age you supposed to know right from wrong, so therefore in theory when anybody over the age of 14 commits a crime they should be held responsible and face the consequences of their poor choices.... But in SA we have a retarded mentality that supports crime: "shame poor criminal, he was only hungry that's why he climbed over a 6foot electric fence, broke down the door, raped the woman, killed the husband and then only stole the tv... " They then say: but lets try and help the poor chap because his stomach drove him to do what he did..." When A simple slip knot would help him more by alleviating his "hunger" and helping spare the ozone layer by doing away with one oxygen thief..oh and it would save us all paying for the pr4cks incarceration. Hang them!! Don't bless and try convert them!!

      jowza - 2011-10-13 11:37

      ici,please explain 'inbred maaifoedies'

      Jacques Coetzee - 2011-10-13 11:56

excuse me twit but I seem to recall a case in Austria and Argentina where the father locked their daughter up for years, raped them and had kids with them. Now you want to make this is a South African thing. There are thousands upon millions of cases like this around the world every day. The problem is us. People. And often men but it seems from reports lately that women are getting as bad. WTF is wrong with you?

  • Bailey G - 2011-10-13 11:21

The crime in this country (especially the ones against women and children) are now way too out of control... So sick of society - I'm praying for an apocalypse to wipe us all out end this once and for all...

      Optimus-Prime - 2011-10-13 11:26

how about we fight for better policing and law enforcement first before we pray for the end of the world?

      Bailey G - 2011-10-13 11:35

That could never happen quick enough to end the suffering and pain we all have to deal with daily... #justsaying

      Rob Gunning - 2011-10-13 12:11

Don't understand why you want to wipe out the entire human race because you're not happy with society, you sound a little like a terrorist. Whats that all about?? Come on don't be selfish.

      Mya - 2011-10-13 11:48

So the system failed this little girl! The little girl raped and murdered in the De Waal case was also failed by the system. They have not allowed comments there, so I will add it here. He was out on a suspended sentence for sexual assault, he is now wanted for ten rapes including the murder of this young girl. Why is the system failing these little girls? Where do they turn for help and protection?

      Wizard101 - 2011-10-13 12:06

Hang him by the balls,or even better tie his balls with roundbar and then heat it with a blue flame and give him a knife so that he can free himself.

      Tinkie - 2011-10-13 12:52

Rape shopuld be treated the same as premeditated murder. No bail, no suspended sentences, straight to jail, no pass go and no collect R200 (or however much they bribe people for now days). Rape kills emotionally and destroys the soul.

  • lisa777 - 2011-10-13 11:26

And you guys criticise sharia law?

      OZNOB - 2011-10-13 12:26

daaivark , I personally do not critcize shaira law though due to what is happening around the country I feel far more drastic mrsures are required starting with corporal punishment at school so that people learn that there are consequences for their actions

  • Natasha - 2011-10-13 11:29

No one should go through this, specially a helpless little girl. Just comes to show that these cruel acts clearly just happens and the Father wont have the punishment his daughter is currently going through. Just so unfair that the person committed this crime will have less pain than his daughter who will suffer for a very long time. I pray for you little one and you are in my thoughts.

      shellerjc - 2011-10-13 11:39

      mildlyamused - 2011-10-13 14:29

For the greater good? Just for the record, there are many people who are quite sane and do not rape their daughters, thank you very much... I'd say that there are more 'good' people than 'bad' people, but unfortunately "Daughter Helps Mother Wash Dishes" doesn't make half as good a headline as "Teen Kidnapped, Raped by Father".

  • aterblanche3 - 2011-10-13 11:56

  • Side_Winder - 2011-10-13 12:14

Why was he in a position to kidnap her with a pending case of rape and assault against him already? This system fails the victim everytime!! For him to do this and not be scared even with a pending case show us exactly how scared criminals are of the ability of the justice to effectively incarcerate them. Even calling for the death penalty is a waste of time when the conviction rate is in single digits. The death penalty will never come back - fact. We need better teamwork from police and justice departments for all crimes, not just high profile cases. This should never have happened and I hope this guys is repeatedly raped and abused in prison (if he gets there). To the child, I can only apologise for the fact that you live in a country where; 1-the adults are too busy squabbling over crap (what colour you are, what colour the rapists are, where you live. 2-the politicians are too busy lining their own pockets at the expense of service delivery (stealing money from tin meant to be used to protect you) 3-Youth leaders care more about the car they drive, who owns the gold mines and R2000-00 bottles of wine when they could be the voice of victims like you and start demanding better protection and services. They'd have all our support then. You deserve so much more than this... I wish you all the best on your road to recovery... and i hope this thing called your father never sets foot near you again. The adults of this country have failed yet another child

  • Tanya Nel - 2011-10-13 12:15

So this poor little girl reported a case of rape and assault prior to this - and what did our upstanding police do - wait for it .... yip thats right absolutely f*ck all!! Makes me sick to my stomach..

  • 1stcase - 2011-10-13 12:42

This is sensational reporting; the heading states that the father raped the teenager. Then in its first statement it states that according to the EC Police the girl was allegedly raped by her father. Then when they do quote a police officer it’s stated that she was traumatise and that she laid a case of raped against the father PRIOR to him kidnapping her.

  • Neil - 2011-10-13 12:43

WTF is happening to SA ? Why doesnt anyone stand up and take the government on ?

  • jonnybravo - 2011-10-13 12:50

I dont understand this...I have four month old twin girls and I could not fathom doing anything to hurt either of them. Every ounce of my being tells me to protect and look after them since the day they were born, it was like someone just flicked the 'daddy' switch. The thought of this father doing this makes me sick to the core but beware the person who even thinks of harming my daughters...I will spend the rest of my living days making sure that every minute is the most sufferable you have ever encountered.

  • Mike or Mpho - 2011-10-13 12:53

  • the gob - 2011-10-13 13:43

SA, as a foreign national, all I say is this. The punishment for these inhumane crimes is not harsh enough, or in the very least, not acting as a strong enough deterrent . Simple solution really. Rape once = 15 years Polsmoor (we know what happens in there). Multiple offender? Easy cut it off and piss out of a pipe!!

  • Shannon - 2011-10-13 14:04

This man should NOT be allowed to carry the title of father.... A dad/father would NEVER do this to his own child. You are a sick human being and deserve the worst. Karma is coming to get you and then you will pay for what you did. This world we live in is sick and twisted. Something you would see in a movie, but we live with it each and every day...

  • Jay - 2011-10-13 14:08

It is estimated that a woman born in South Africa has a greater chance of being raped than learning how to read.[40] One in three of the 4,000 women questioned by the Community of Information, Empowerment and Transparency said they had been raped in the past year.[41]
