Pietermaritzburg - A teenager was raped in a Pietermaritzburg taxi rank by men who said she was wearing a short dress because she wanted to show off her body.

According to police information, a case of rape was opened at the Pietermaritzburg police station on Sunday by a 17-year-old female who alleged that she was raped in the toilets of the Emgodini minibus taxi rank in the CBD.

According to the police report, when the victim was exiting the toilets at the taxi rank, she was approached by four men whose identities were unknown to her.

It is believed that the men greeted her with sexual innuendoes, which she responded negatively to.

According to what she told the police, the men told her that she was “too full of herself”, and insulted her, saying “she was wearing a short dress because she wanted to show them her body”.

One of the men allegedly grabbed the teen and dragged her into the toilet, with the three others following close behind.

One man allegedly grabbed her handbag and stole her cellphone while another ripped off her underwear and raped her.

The men left the teenager lying on the floor of the toilet, shivering and crying.

The police were unable to comment on the matter on Monday.
