Johannesburg - Three teenage boys were arrested in Savoy, north of Johannesburg on Wednesday for allegedly robbing a 14-year-old boy of his cellphone at gunpoint, police said.
Spokesperson Inspector Moses Maphakela said the boys, aged between 13 and 15, were arrested after an eyewitness made a frantic call to the police.
"When Bramley police arrived at the scene they saw the three teenage boys running away. On catching up with them, the officers recovered the stolen cellphone and a firearm."
The three were taken to the Bramley police station and charged with armed robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Maphakela could not immediately say when the boys would appear in court.
