Cape Town - A teller foiled a robbery at a Standard Bank in Northgate Mall, Johannesburg, on Monday after a man handed over a note saying he had a bomb and demanded money.
A police spokesperson at the scene told News24 that a 39-year-old man went into the Standard Bank just before 16:00 and handed a note to one of the tellers on duty.
The note said that he had a bomb and demanded money.
The teller immediately passed the note on to her supervisor who activated the silent alarm, the spokesperson said.
The police were at the scene within minutes, and the suspect was subdued and apprehended, he said.
