Ventersdorp - A High Court judge rejected a defence by Eugene Terre’Blanche’s killer who claimed that the AWB leader sodomised him.

Chris Mahlangu was sentenced to life in prison for murdering the rightwing leader.

Mahlangu, 29, had pleaded guilty but argued that he acted in self-defence in what the judge found was a violent dispute over wages.

Mahlangu has said he feels he did no wrong by ridding the world of a man some called a monster.

A second man, who was a teenager at the time of the 2010 killing, on Wednesday received a suspended sentenced of two years.

Prosecutors said Mahlangu and his co-accused broke into Terre'Blanche's home, where they found the 71-year-old asleep and hacked him to death with an axe.

Outside the court, 20 white protesters carried an effigy of Mahlangu with a rope around his neck and a plaque saying: "Hang Mahlangu."

Many South Africans see Terre'Blanche as a relic from a bygone era and his murder did little to stir racial tension.
