Terre'Blanche murder trial to resume

2012-04-10 07:34
Ventersdorp - The trial of two people accused of killing AWB leader Eugene Terre'Blanche is expected to resume in the North West High Court sitting in Ventersdorp on Tuesday.

Chris Mahlangu and a teenager are charged with beating Terre'Blanche to death in his farmhouse outside Ventersdorp in the North West in April 2010.

Both have pleaded not guilty to murder, housebreaking and robbery with aggravating circumstances.

Mahlangu claims he acted in self defence. The teenager has denied involvement in the crime.

At a previous appearance, police Captain Mojalefa Nkosi testified that Mahlangu had implicated himself in the murder.

Mahlangu was quoted as saying he hit Terre'Blanche several times with a pole, before the teenager picked it up and hit him until he died.

This was contained in a statement read out in court, which Mojalefa took during and after the pointing out process.

However, Judge John Horn pointed out that the statement of one accused could not be used to incriminate another.
