2012-04-03 18:27

Johannesburg - Police have arrested a third person in connection with the rape of a 14-year-old girl in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape police said on Tuesday.

Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said the girl and her 10-year-old brother were placed with another family after a rape case was opened in February.

The children's guardian and her boyfriend were arrested a week after the case was reported.

They were in custody and their bail application would continue on Wednesday, Janse Van Rensburg said.

At the first bail application, information was provided on the third person arrested, a 48-year-old man.

He faced two charges of rape after a second victim, a 9-year-old girl at the time of the rape, was also identified.
