Johannesburg - One person has died and two people were
left injured in three accidents across the country on Monday, said ER24
paramedics.
"On Monday, paramedics went to the N17 between
Bethal and Ermelo in Mpumulanga after a car was reported to be lying on the
side of the road," said ER24 spokesperson Vanessa Jackson.
"When they arrived they found that a VW Golf had
rolled almost 100m from the road and was lying on its side."
The body of a man in his 20s was found inside. He
appeared to have died from a severe head injury and multiple broken leg bones.
Meanwhile, a man was left with chest and other suspected
internal injuries after he was flung from his bakkie near the Merrivale road
off-ramp in Howick, KwaZulu-Natal.
He appeared to have lost control of his vehicle and it
rolled across a traffic island before coming to rest on its roof in a
stormwater drain.
He was taken to hospital for further treatment.
In a separate incident on Schoemansdrift road, just
outside Potchefstroom, a young woman crashed her motorbike after a buck ran
onto the road in front of her.
"She was unable to control the bike and she rolled
off."
The woman, 22, sustained a broken collarbone and multiple
scrapes to her body and legs.
The buck escaped unscathed.
The woman was given pain medication on the scene and
taken to hospital.
