Johannesburg - Three people found in possession of suspected stolen copper cables appeared in the Vryburg Magistrate's Court on Monday, North West police said.

The matter was postponed to 10 September for a formal bail application, Sergeant Kelebogile Moleko said.

They were arrested last week, Captain Pelonomi Makau said on Saturday.

Investigators contracted by Eskom searched the power line and the field along N14 and found three men in possession of 450m of copper cable that had apparently been stolen near Vryburg.

The police were called and the group was arrested and charged with theft and possession of copper cables.
