Cape Town - A minor and two others were arrested on Monday in connection with the killing of a female police officer in Philippi in Cape Town, Western Cape police said.

Warrant Officer November Filander said the arrests were made during a police operation in the early hours of the morning.

He said the minor was expected to appear in the Wynberg Magistrate's Court later on Monday, while the two would appear on Tuesday in the same court.

The police constable, 36, was shot dead while driving a police vehicle in Philippi East on Friday evening, Lieutenant Colonel  André Traut said.

He said she had gone to collect a parcel from her home in Khayelitsha and was shot at twice through the windscreen. She was admitted to hospital and died from her injuries.
