Tighten security at reservoirs - MEC

Johannesburg - Municipalities in the North West should tighten security at their reservoirs an MEC said on Sunday after a teenager drowned in Orkney.

"As an environmental health and security matter, no unauthorised person should access reservoirs with relative ease," Human Settlements, Public Safety and Liaison MEC Magome Masike said in a statement.

The 16-year old boy drowned on Saturday afternoon.

A group of youths was swimming in the reservoir when the boy disappeared beneath the water.

His was recovered by paramedics, who declared him dead at the scene.

    And.............we have to drink this water after a Dead Body was recovered? How many more dead bodies are decomposed and in the Water - Sies...............

    Once again government is showing that are "trying" to do the "right" thing. They can't even manage general civil safety and security, and now want to mobilise to secure reservoirs. Go ahead, at least you trying... that is if they actually put words to action.

    Condolence to the family on their loss. Dont worry about security at the resevoirs, rather build some swimming pools that the kids can use. And give them swimming lessons as part of their life skill training.
