East London - Police are searching for a three-year-old boy who went missing in Centane near East London, Eastern Cape police said on Sunday.

Captain Jackson Manatha said the boy did not arrive home after a 21-year-old woman left him near his house before she went home herself on Tuesday last week.

The boy was reported missing after his parents and community members could not find him. He was wearing a white t-shirt and brown trousers when he went missing.

The East London police dog unit started the search for the boy on Sunday, Manatha said.

How can a mother be so careless by leaving a 3 year old alone, even if it is a few houses away from their house, I mean really, 3 years old. I only hope and pray the little is found and his ok.

As a mother myself, my worst nightmare would be to lose one of my kids or have them taken. The woman who left him where she did as well as his mother should be punished. Who does that?? Can you imagine what that poor child must be feeling or thinking wherever he is? Please God let them find him. We live in a VERY sick & twisted world. I Wish God would step in & sort this country out..

I lost my son once in a mall. It only takes one second, but you age 20 years in the agonising minutes that follow. I truly hope they find him (unharmed) very soon.
