Cape Town - A prestigious Paarl school has confirmed sacking an employee over two charges of sexual misconduct.

The governing body of Paarl Gymnasium confirmed on Tuesday that the man’s services with the school had immediately been terminated, reported Die Burger.

The man apparently worked at the school in a part-time capacity.

Rumours about the man had been circulating at the school for more than a week, with one of these stating that the man had been accused of sexual misconduct before.

Police also confirmed investigating two charges relating to sexual misconduct.
The man had not been arrested.

The story solicited many comments from Die Burger’s readers.

One user identified himself as a pupil at the school and said: “This incident isn’t the school’s fault. [Paarl Gymnasium] is an incredible school.”

Another user said: “The situation was beyond the control of all pupils, teachers and members of the governing body.”
