Top Tshwane official suspended
Pretoria - Another senior Tshwane official has been suspended for three months while investigations into his conduct are underway, the Pretoria News reported on Monday.
Mapiti Matsena, a strategic executive in the office of the Speaker, was suspended on Friday and the official announcement was expected on Monday, according to the report.
Mayoral spokesperson Pieter de Necker confirmed to the publication that Matsena, who was also the ANC's Tshwane deputy regional chairperson, had been suspended on full pay following several allegations.
De Necker declined to explain the allegations.
In October last year, Tshwane mayor Kgosientso Ramokgopa placed deputy metro police chief Ndumiso Jaca on special leave amid allegations he used the same number plate for his motorbike and car.
The three-month special leave had since been extended.
"There has been a minor delay to the conclusion of the investigation due to new evidence which had to be considered," De Necker said in a statement earlier this month.
