Pretoria - A well-known advocate has been admitted to hospital after he was attacked outside court and injected with an unknown substance.

Advocate Jaap Cilliers, known for defending Wouter Basson, Jackie Selebi and the Waterkloof Four was attacked on Wednesday afternoon outside the North Gauteng High Court, reported Beeld.

He had been attending court on a civil matter and when he left the building at about 15:35, a man rushed up to him from behind and he felt a sharp pain in his buttocks as if he had been injected.

A dizzy and nauseous Cilliers was then taken to a doctor and it was confirmed that he had been injected with a substance.

Blood tests were done to determine what he had been injected with.

The motive for the attack was still unknown.
