Top cops plot against Mthethwa - report

2012-07-20 08:43

Johannesburg - Unhappy senior police officers are allegedly plotting against Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa.

A report by the Mail&Guardian revealed that a top secret report had been compiled, naming the former acting national police commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi as part of the group of police officers.

The report mentioned suspended crime intelligence boss Richard Mdluli and said there were plants to “weaken” the police minister just as was done to Mdluli.

The report mentioned the furore around a wall erected around the minister’s home in KwaZulu-Natal and the minister’s claim that he didn’t know who paid for the R200 000 fence.

It also mentioned investigations into Mthethwa’s personal life

The report furthermore accused numerous high-ranking officials of infighting and political meddling.

The minister told the newspaper he didn’t respond to “information peddling” and declined to answer questions about the report.

Mthethwa you should have used the taxpayer's money to build security fences for all the “cadres”, bought X5s for them and gave them cash to also wear Italian suits and glasses. Now look what you've started ... Hogging the feeding trough :)

  • Gavin - 2012-07-20 09:43

if by weaken we get rid of this piece of garbage - then by all means weaken away. but knowing our luck, zuma will appoint robert mugabe as his successor. the ANC is at its happiest when attention is focused elsewhere, then they can steal to their hearts content.

  • mark.haupt.31 - 2012-07-20 10:03

No plotting should be necessary - the man's a crook, should be fired and held accountable for money spent on his personal assets.

  • hudayfah.newman - 2012-07-20 10:06

I heard they dubbed it \The great wall from nowhere\. R200 000 and he doesn't know who paid for it. The other thing that I can't seem to wrap my head around is,what type of wall costs this much? Can this particular wall talk?or shoot criminals? It Seems really expensive.

i will be surprised in december if the ANC delegates do not see that under President Zuma the ANC is bleeding; factions within the police, intelligence units; divisions with its own youth formation; icy relationship with the religions formations; awful relationship with the business community, ala Reuel Khoza; dysfunctional departments within the state, the state of education in disarray; permanent war with the judiciary and the media over his probably corrupt personal life and stories, ala zapiro, etc; poor and untenable choices of the heads of departments, ala Menzi Simelane, etc. With such overwhelming evidence that the country is heading in the wrong direction, it will be disheartening for Zuma to win the second term. I refuse to imagine that the delegates will be unable to see this and rescue this country.

      Singatha - 2012-07-22 14:35

Ha!The cult of personality and it's associated patronage will see to it that Pres.Zuma will get his 2nd term. After all, he is the incumbent and the keeper of the vault keys.

  • riotousr - 2012-07-20 11:46

There is no plot at all. The report is a creation of the media and big business' unhappiness with the appointment of the General. This has got nothing to do with the ANC and its faction but the so-called third force's plan to derail SAPS. There is plenty of former SAP people with interest in the SAPS. They can only get their business going by fabricating plots against the minister. But then again because the rulers that be are not thoughtful enough to realise that they will be giving the intelligence services more funds to investigate the plot. That is all what the 'report' is support to do, get more funding for their personal gratification.

  • luke.dekoker - 2012-07-20 13:17

Play the 'racist-driven plot" card like the idiot Mdluli did.. just watch it, with a name like Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi it may not go off that well. Maybe you fools should get together around an Ox-braai, some Johnny Blue and Black Label (to keep it non-racial) and Zuma's cronies within the "gift wall" area to figure out who or what you can blame if this one fails.. If there is not enough money, take some from the "Secret Fund" that you all know how to abuse.

  • berthram - 2012-07-20 13:19

Kudos to the police for having had develop \plants\ that can plot against each other. I don't even think scientists have succeeded in this before. Well done. Nice reporting News24

  • jacqui.daanevanrensburg - 2012-07-20 13:24

They probably want big, high, walls around their houses too.

  • markjack.deppe - 2012-07-20 14:42

Funny how no one can see where we are heading. It doesn't surprise me that Mkhwanazi is part of this plot. He was Commissioner for a short while and replaced by the President, with an incompetent outsider who incidentally wears the Police gear as if she earned it. Surely the Generals should be livid because the expectation was that Mthethwa should have advised the President accordingly as to who would be fit to be a General but did he?? Then also we should not forget about Lindiwe Sisulu. She was also replaced as Minister of Defence without reason. The infighting in the ANC is good. Let them annihilate themselves as they have proven their worthlessness for far too long.

  • thomas.mazibisa - 2012-07-20 15:14

it doesn't make sense to me. the Minister is a political appointee who can be reshuffled to another portfolio, so I wonder if the so called plot will have any effect.
