Train partially derails in Kimberley

Kimberley - Twelve people were injured in the early hours of Wednesday after a train partially derailed near the N12 in Kimberley.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said paramedics, along with other emergency services, responded to the scene, and found the partially derailed train near the track.

Some of the occupants were found sitting around the train.

"On assessment, paramedics found that 12 people from the train had sustained minor to moderate injuries. Fortunately no one had sustained any serious injuries."

He said paramedics treated the patients before transporting them to the Kimberley Hospital for further treatment.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
