Trapped hikers airlifted from De Hoop

Cape Town - Hikers trapped in a popular Western Cape nature reserve due to heavy rain were rescued by an air force helicopter.

Die Burger reported that the group of 32 hikers were picked up in the De Hoop nature reserve near Bredasdorp.

Heavy rains had been falling over the past few days in the Overberg region and more rain was forecast.
Among the hikers was a 72-year-old man.

An air force helicopter was sent at about 16:00 to pick up people at three different spots along the hiking trail.

All were dropped off at their cars at about 19:00.

No one was injured.

    Bloory weaklings! We braved that rain for 5 days and made it to the end. They had R1000 to waste.
