Cape Town - Three men accused of shooting dead an 8-year-old-boy have appeared in the Wynberg Magistrate's Court in Cape Town, it was reported on Tuesday.

The Daily Voice reported that Gary Peters, 21, Moegamat Shafiek Mienies, 23, and Abubaker Kamar, 26, appeared in court on Monday and were told to return on Friday, when they would bring a formal bail application.

They were arrested two weeks ago in connection with the murder of Junaid McKenzie.

McKenzie was playing soccer outside his Lavender Hill home on June 27 when he was shot in the head.

He was reportedly caught up in a shooting between rival gangs, the Mongrels and Junky Funky Kids.
