Trio held for drugs in Free State

Bloemfontein - Three Nigerian men were arrested for possession of drugs when their house in Welkom was searched on Friday morning, Free State police said.

SpokespersonCaptain Stephen Thakeng said police, acting on a tip-off, went to a house in Reitzpark, Welkom.

Three Nigerian nationals were on the premises. One of the men was apparently trying to flush some drugs down a toilet. He was stopped and the drugs were confiscated.

Police found 18 packets of the drug khat, 14 ecstasy tablets and 17 packets of cocaine. The street value of the drugs was estimated to be around R6 500.
