Bloemfontein - A woman and two men are expected to appear in the Tsheseng Magistrate's Court after being arrested for possession of a firearm that disappeared from the Police Museum in Pretoria.

The Moeding Village community became suspicious of a 36-year-old local woman on Wednesday evening when word spread that she kept two Lesotho men at her house and that they were slaughtering animals, which was suspected to be stolen sheep.

Tsheseng police and the Phuthaditjhaba Stock Theft Unit went to her house following the tip-off and found two sheep carcasses and arrested her.

During further investigation, it was discovered that the same woman hid two men in her house.

The men, from Mokgotlong in Lesotho, were in possession of a firearm that was reported missing from the Police Museum since 2009. They also had four rounds of ammunition.

The Free State Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thabethe, appealed to the public to keep on fighting stock theft.
