Trio plead guilty to killing Muldersdrift teen, man

Johannesburg - Three men accused of murdering a 13-year-old girl and 50-year-old man in Muldersdrift and committing a series of other crimes have pleaded guilty, The Star newspaper reported on Tuesday.

Alfred Zwane, 27, Samson Mandlezi, 23, and Manir Lubisi, 27, pleaded guilty to nine of the 10 charges against them in the South Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg on Monday, according to the report.

Apart from pleading guilty to the murder of Alyssa Botha, 13, on 5 September last year, the three men admitted to also murdering Andre Jordaan, 50, on September 13.

Botha was shot and killed in front of her 17-year-old sister Meghan and father Anton, who was also injured in the attack.

Other crimes the three men pleaded guilty to were robbery, theft, attempted murder, assault, and burglary, according to the report.

In each of the incidents, the men surprised their victims while they were at home or arriving home.

Zwane, Mandlezi and Lubisi were arrested on 14 September after they were found sleeping on the side of Beyers Naude Drive.
