Johannesburg - A truck was set alight in Rethabiseng, Ekangala, outside Pretoria on Wednesday, Gauteng police said.

Captain Sipho Zulu said protesters blockaded a road leading into Ekangala with stones and burning tyres.

Residents were protesting over service delivery, he said. They had been protesting sporadically over the past two months.

Zulu said police stopped protesters who were on their way to the municipality's offices.

"Their protest was illegal," said Zulu.

No arrests were made.
