Truck flattens broken-down car

2012-07-11 14:41

Johannesburg - A man was killed on Wednesday when his broken-down car was hit by an out-of-control truck on the M2 near the Cleveland off-ramp in Johannesburg, paramedics said.

It appeared the man's car was stationary in the emergency lane when the truck slammed into it, Netcare 911 spokesperson Jeffrey Wicks said.

"The truck laid waste to the car, passing over the vehicle before it overturned."

The man was declared dead on the scene by paramedics.

Police are investigating.

Just exactly why are there so many "out of control" truck accidents. Is it because those persons driving them have bought licences, grossly over loaded or totally unroad worthy.

There is no law-enforcement in this country. I tried communicating to metro police in Durban who referred me to RTI regarding speeding motorists in my area and in 8 months nothing has come of it. Like the father and son who were caught speeding with their Porches in Gauteng....watch this space. Nothing, zilch, a fine maybe and off we go again
