THREE women were killed in a freak accident on Wednesday when a mirror from an oncoming vehicle struck them on their heads.

The women were travelling on the back of a bakkie along with nine other people on the Impendle-Dargle road when a truck travelling in the opposite direction drove past them.

A source, who could not be named, said the road was narrow and the two vehicles passed close to each other, resulting in the truck’s mirror hitting three of the women standing in the back of the bakkie.

“The two vehicles never made any physical contact. The only damage was to the truck’s mirror,” said the source.
