Twitter reacts to Oscar Pistorius’s release

2015-10-20 07:45

Pretoria – South Africans woke up on Tuesday morning to the news that Paralympian Oscar Pistorius was released from prison under correctional supervision on Monday night.

Pistorius's lawyer Brian Webber told The Citizen newspaper that his client was home just after 22:00 on Monday, having been reportedly been release around 20:00.

Most media houses and the public only expected the track star’s release from Kgosi Mampuru II prison on Tuesday, as was decided by the Department of Correctional Services last week.

However, it appears Pistorius’s early release was planned by senior management, catching everyone, including the media, unawares.

Read on as Twitter reacts to Oscar’s surprise, late-night release.

Media houses are currently camped outside Pistorius's uncle's home in Pretoria, waiting for an appearance from the fallen star on Tuesday.
