Durban - Two wanted murder suspects were arrested during raids which were part of festive season operations in KwaZulu-Natal, police said on Friday.

"Two men were arrested on Thursday for different cases," Colonel Jay Naicker said.

A 33-year-old man was arrested at his home in Durban's Phoenix suburb for the murder of Mbongeleni Ntanzi.

"The man was believed to be part of a group of men who killed Ntanzi for robbing an old man of his money."

Ntanzi was shot dead at Eziyendeni Reserve in Ndulinde on September 17 2007.

The second man, aged 30, was arrested in Sundumbili for the murder of Khumbulani Xulu at his home in the Mantungweni area on June 21 2010. The motive for this murder was unknown.

Another two men, aged 29 and 30, were arrested for possession of an unlicensed, homemade firearm and ammunition in Sundumbili's Ngotsheni area. Police searched their home after the two began to behave suspiciously.
