Johannesburg - Two City of Tshwane senior officials have been suspended, the city said on Monday.

A fortnight ago, the city council resolved to serve notices of intention to suspend Tshilidzi Nemahagala and Andile Dyakala for alleged wrongdoing, it said in a statement.

"The council resolution was made in terms of the Municipal Systems Act which governs suspensions and disciplinary action against senior managers directly reporting to the city manager."

Nemahagala, acting head of the city's corporate and shared services department, was issued his suspension letter on Thursday, while Dyakala, the chief financial officer, received his on Friday.

The two were given seven days to motivate in writing why they should not be suspended.

However, city manager Jason Ngobeni decided to suspend them late last week.

Dyakala was implicated in a forensic investigation commissioned by the city into a printing tender.

Nemahagala would face charges of insubordination, harassment, intimidation, absenteeism without authorisation, and dereliction of duty.

The city had appointed an independent investigator to look into the matter.

Daniel Manganye was appointed acting strategic executive director at the corporate and shared services department in Nemahagala's place.

The city was finalising the appointment of prosecutors and presiding officers for Dyakala's disciplinary proceedings.

Umar Banda was appointed acting chief financial officer in his place.
