Two die in shoot-out with police
Johannesburg - Two men, wanted for murder, were killed in a shoot-out with police at a house in Amaoti, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Tuesday.
The shoot-out took place around 22:00 on Monday after police approached a house where they believed the suspected killers were staying, said Colonel Jay Naicker.
"The suspects allegedly opened fire on them. Police officers returned fire fatally wounding two suspects," said Naicker.
Another two men were injured in the shoot-out and taken to hospital.
Eight others who were in the house at the time, were arrested.
Police suspect all 12 men were involved in a shooting at a tavern in Amaoti on Saturday when a group of people opened fire on patrons, killing two people and wounding three others.
The reason for the shooting was unknown.
"The arrested suspects will be charged with two counts of murder, three counts of attempted murder and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition."
They would appear in the Ntuzuma Magistrate's Court soon, said Naicker.
