Cape Town - A flare-up in gang-related shootings has Parkwood, Western Cape, residents on edge after two men were killed and another injured within two days.

A 31-year-old man was shot and killed in Eric Viljoen Street about 06:00 on Tuesday, said police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Andre Traut.

A 17-year-old boy was gunned down in Parkers Walk in the early hours of Monday morning.

An 58-year-old man was shot and wounded on Monday morning also in Parkers Walk.

"The circumstances [of the shootings] are being investigated," Traut said.

Cluster Community Police Forum chairperson Hanif Loonat confirmed the incidents were gang related.

"I understand the police are following up on a number of promising leads," he said.

"I am positive that patrols will be stepped up to combat these shootings. We cannot allow the peace in our communities to be shattered by these gangsters."
