Two killed in head-on collision

Pretoria - Two people died in a head-on collision on the N4 near The Orchards outside Pretoria on Friday, said paramedics.

Netcare 911 paramedics arrived to find a female driver had died on the scene, said spokesperson Santi Steinmann.

"The male driver of the other vehicle was found to be in a critical condition and he was also entrapped in his vehicle," said Steinmann.

The jaws-of-life had to be used to extricate the injured man from his car. Once removed from the vehicle, he was taken to hospital, but died soon after arriving there.

The cause of the accident was not known.
