Johannesburg - Two more people have been arrested in connection with the killing of five Pakistani nationals in Mitchells Plain, Western Cape police said on Sunday.

"This brings the number of arrests police made in this case to three," said Colonel Tembinkosi Kinana.

"The investigation is at a very sensitive stage at the moment, we therefore cannot release any further details on the case."

He said the two, aged between 34 and 41 years old, were facing charges ranging from murder, attempted murder, house robbery and carjacking.

They were expected to appear in the Mitchells Plain Magistrate's Court on Monday. A 28-year-old man was arrested last week and he had appeared in court on Friday.

Five people were killed in Rocklands, Mitchells Plain, during a robbery last week.

"Two unidentified men entered the house, allegedly used as a bakery, and demanded the safe, [and] fired shots at six occupants," Kinana said.

"Four people were killed during the incident, whilst two were critically injured and rushed to the hospital. One of the two victims later died in hospital, which brought the number of people killed to five."

The attackers took a safe and fled the scene, around 22:00 on Tuesday. The six were Pakistanis.
